[Narrator] Every year, Conde Nast Traveler

releases its annual hot list,

which celebrates the best hotel openings and more

from around the world.

Here, a design driven addition to downtown Los Angeles,

a nature escape in Montana,

and a modern spin on classic Charleston,

are three of the standout properties

on this year's hot list.

Downtown Los Angeles has been booming in recent years,

with a number of trendy hotel brands

carving space for themselves amongst the art studios

and restaurants of the neighborhood.

Even with the stiff competition,

downtown LA Proper stands out for its design.

After all, no other spot has guru

Kelly Wearstler at the helm,

transforming the 1920 structure with her knack

for seamlessly blending vintage and modern.

The mood is set upon entering,

with a lobby decked out with hand painted frescos.

You'll find bursts of color throughout the property,

even in the hallways.

Rooms are warm and cozy with lots of blonde woods

and lighter tones to keep up the California vibes.

Large windows bring in plenty of sunshine too.

But of course, in LA you want to be outside

whenever possible.

Here, that means heading up to the rooftop Cara Cara bar

where you will want to settle in for cocktails

like a passion fruit Caipirinha, by the fire pits

with knockout views of the city.

And once your appetite kicks in,

it's nice to know that one of the hottest tables in town

is right downstairs at the plant flooded Caldo Verde.

A meal here may just be as memorable

as your early morning dip in that rooftop pool

with the city skylines staring back at you.

Don't call Big Sky a winter destination.

The nature packed Montana resort is filled

with reasons to visit year round.

And no matter when you come,

Montage Big Sky now means your stay

will be all five star, all the time.

Knowing that the gorgeous outdoors

people have traveled here for is the real draw,

Montage made sure to bring the outside in,

with floor to ceiling windows that have uninterrupted views

across to the mountains from the central living room

and patio area.

This is the type of place where tech execs

in from California may be mingling with celebrities

after days spent hiking and skiing

in and around Yellowstone.

In fact, all that unparalleled access

to the epic outdoors may be why this property

has invested so much in creating a space

you will want to return to to relax

and soothe aching muscles.

The spa is world class, with an indoor lap pool

and an innovative massage menu.

Plus plenty of spaces to unwind

in the comfort of a plush robe.

There is also a touch of the Alps with Alpenglow,

a happening apres spot popular with locals

after a day of runs,

and the excellent Cortina serves hardy high end Italian

like Paccheri bolognese and Osobucco.

Rooms are tasteful and comfortable

and feel more like home than a hotel.

Most have terraces with those incredible views

and deep soaking tubs.

Easing into one, glass of bubbles in hand,

is your reward after a day well spent outdoors.

You can't beat the location of Charleston's

hip new Loutrel, a stone's throw from city market

and the historic district.

The lobby is grand and sophisticated

but warm and welcoming,

much like the city itself.

The white on white palette is offset

with a jewel box of a bar serving original drinks

like the To a Tea.

The hotel is named for landscaping legend Loutrel Briggs,

who designed a ton of private gardens in the area.

This is why you'll see so many fresh flowers throughout,

from the calamondin orange topiaries in the lobby

to the living orchids in every room.

Speaking of rooms, here, they are crisp,

clean and outrageously comfortable.

Not all have the views you want,

but for a room with windows that peep

on Charleston's landmarks,

request something south facing on the upper floors.

Though the best views are on the rooftop,

also the ace of the hotel's sleeve.

It looks over the French quarter and is a smart spot

for early morning coffee or sunset cocktails.

From up there, you can even hear the church bells sound,

creating a sweet sensory experience unlike anywhere else.

A top hotel draws in the best of food,

design and comfort to become a destination all their own.
